Chats on the Farmhouse Porch #106

Everyday Ruralty
Oh how I've missed my friends on the farmhouse porch for chats. Click the logo to the left to visit Patrice and read other's posts. I was very busy with some important stuff. Now that it's done... I can get back to my regularly scheduled postings.

Are you ready for this week's questions?

Oh, I hope Patrice doesn't mind; I'm going to invite my four legged girl, +Hatsu Misa Takara [Misa for short], to join me in this chat. She loves to chat. I think you will like her. Click her link above to visit her profile and see her photos and activities. She hasn't updated it lately. We'll have to rectify that.

Questions
  1. Do you have any type of air cleaner in your home?
ME: Not anymore. We went through three of them. We had three ionizer air filters/cleaners. It was one of the originally made kind. There's new refined types now. I would love to have a couple of them.
MISA: NO! But, with all the dander and hair I shed... it looks like a cotton ball factory exploded in the house, I do! It gets caught in my toes like velcro. Can you imagine that? Who wants hair that looks like it's growing out of their toes? I have enough hair...
  2. What do you do with the spare change you accumulate in your car, purse, pockets, etc?
ME: I do not. But, my husband, +Paul Edwards, does. We have a quart canning jar he puts it in. Sometimes we use the quarters for small items that are under $5.
MISA: I don't drive, carry a purse or have pockets. Now, If I were a kangaroo or some of those other animals with pouches OR maybe those rodents with pouches in their cheeks, that would be a great place to put loose spare change, don't you think?
  3. What's one chore you wish you never had to do again?
ME: Cleaning up after Misa in the yard and on walks. I wish there was an invention that would dispose of it automatically.
MISA: Chore? Listening to Kimberly complain about cleaning up after me... that's painful, dontcha know! I'm a dog after all. There's no doggy potties to use. Maybe someone should invent doggy potties so it can just be flushed away... Hey now... there's a concept!
  4. Are you outgoing, quiet, shy, reserved, or life of the party?
ME: I'm outgoing, but, I can be any of the above, except "life of the party". My mother used to say that I never knew a stranger. I wonder what she meant by that?
MISA: I'm very outgoing. I love to party till the cows come home! Partay.................
  5. Have you understood your parents more as you've gotten older?
    ME: Some stuff, yes.
MISA: I was only around my parents for seven weeks. I never got the chance to really experience them. On the other hand; my human parents... I'm still living with them. They won't let me leave. I have stayed with friends while Mama & Papa traveled. The friends gave me yummy table food. I don't get that at home. Even though I stick my nose right next to their plate, never taking food off the plate, just begging for a bit. Every now and then I get a piece of cooked meat. I hate spicy stuff though. They eat a lot of that. So, I'm glad I don't get their table food. What comes out the other end... ugh... I don't want to listen to the complaining.
Happy Chatting!

[20130724] Farmhouse Porch Chats

Everyday Ruralty
It's that time of week again! Let's join Patrice [err Wendell] at the Farmhouse on the porch [err the barnyard trough?]

Here's the questions and my answers for this week:

Yes, I'm a day later. But, better late than never, I say.
  1. Do you use any type of water filter (pitcher or sink mount)?
Yes, I use a brita pitcher. We actually have a filter built into the fridge that has water fed through to the door. I double filter my water.
  2. Do you have any tips for staying hydrated in the warmer weather?
Wendell's idea is great... However, I personally keep two water bottles ready full of water to drink.
  3. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
Well, my hairs wave at everyone and everything. They even wave at me when I look into the mirror.
  4. Are you on top of all the chores/work you do, or are you always running behind?
As FlyLady.net says: "You're never behind. Just begin where you are. You can do anything for 15 minutes."
  5. If you could sing a song to Wendell, what would it be?
    For you, Wendell.
Happy Wednesday Evening, everyone!

[20130716] - Farmhouse Porch Chat

{L}et's join Patrice on the farmhouse porch for a chat today. We get to ask Wendell a question today. Oh... you want to know who Wendell is? He's Patrice's horse. He's quite chatty dontcha know!

{H}ere's today's questions and my answers:
  1. Have you cooked any interesting dishes lately?
I love to experiment with cooking. So, I consider all my dishes interesting. I have organic produce delivered bi-weekly. I have to create dishes out the produce. It helps that they also include recipe suggestions for at least two items.
  2. What question would you like to ask Wendell?
Wendell, what's your favorite sweets? Because, I know you have a sweet-tooth.
  3. Have you had any thoughts of Christmas yet?
Not really. I'm not much into the commercialism surrounding Christmas.
  4. Do you make jams and jellies?
    No. Unfortunately.
  5. Do you have any board games that you enjoy?
Not at this time. However, when I was young I loved to play scrabble.

Turkey... Pork doesn't agree with me.
  • Do you take time to "smell the roses"?
I love to smell the roses. They are my favorites.
  • What's your favorite stone fruit? (Peaches, nectarines, plums, apricots, and cherries are in the stone fruit family.)
Peaches. Although, I like all the stone fruits.
  • What is the thing people notice most about your personality? (quiet, outgoing, polite, funny, etc.)
I'm outgoing and funny. I get a lot of comments about something weird.
  • Is there a hobby that you have wanted to do, but haven't started yet?
I already do this, but not to any extent. It's pretty random. Kind of like these farmhouse porch chats. I love photography. I even have a photography blog. It's quite neglected though. It probably has some cobwebs and dust bunnies.

Chats From The Farmhouse Porch - [20130530]

Everyday RuraltyWe moved over Memorial Day Weekend. It was more than 1,000 miles. Our dog didn't like the way she had to travel. She hasn't been eating right. She isn't used to this kind of heat. I'm praying she adjusts soon.

Chats on the Farmhouse Porch

Everyday Ruralty
1. Do you have any fun plans for the Summer?
  • We, +Paul Edwards & I, will enjoy some new roads to ride our motorcycles and some other fun Summer stuff... picnics, bbqs, etc.
2. Are you currently dieting or following a specific eating plan?
  • I wouldn't say yes and I wouldn't say no. It all depends on one's definition of dieting. The word diet itself simply means: nutrition, nourishment, food and so on. So, technically, we all diet. Some special, because of health reasons, some for weight loss or control, etc. So, to answer the question, yes, I'm dieting. The general idea is to stay alive. ;-)
3. How often do you wear blue jeans (or any other color of denim)?
  • Everyday. Colors range from light blue to black.
4. Who is your favorite singer?
  • I don't have one specific favorite. I like many. One of which is Natalie Grant, another: Kari Jobe. Those two stand out at the moment.
5. Have you cooked anything interesting lately?
  • I love cooking. So, yes, I have cooked something interesting lately. Loads of things... it's something different almost everyday. We had an interesting version of a taco salad last night. We used Salmon (baked on the oven with cayenne pepper) instead of chicken or beef. Also, it had regular dinner salad components. We also have some organic jalapeno peppers. So, we cut one of those up and put it in the salad, raw. We used broken up tortilla chips as the bed to start the layers. It was quite yummy.
