BEDN | REMEMBRANCE DAY

#BEDN Blog Every Day in November

In the U.S., we celebrated our Memorial Day in May. It is where people go around and place flowers and flags on military service people's graves to remember and honor them.

Today, we celebrate Veterans DayVeterans Day is an official U.S. holiday which honors people who have served in armed service also known as veterans.

The Veterans Day National Ceremony is held each year on November 11th at Arlington National Cemetery. The ceremony commences precisely at 11:00 a.m. with a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknowns and continues inside the Memorial Amphitheater with a parade of colors by veterans' organizations and remarks from dignitaries. The ceremony is intended to honor and thank all who served in the United States Armed Forces.

My father and mother both served in the U.S. Navy. For many families it's a tradition that each member follows the steps of their ancestors and serve.

I appreciate all the men and women putting their lives on the line for the protection of our rights.

I love how Google.com uses their logo to celebrate something that happened on each day of the year. Here's their doodle for Veterans Day:

Happy Veterans Day, America. Happy Remembrance Day, Commonwealth of Nations.
